Vijay Krishna Acharya: I am very happy directing DHOOM 3

DHOOM was big, DHOOM 2 was bigger, and it looks like DHOOM 3 is going to be the biggest. Starring Aamir Khan as the villain, there are huge expectations from the film, even before it hits the floor. The director of the film, Vijay Krishna Acharya aka Victor is obviously very excited.

"I am very happy directing Dhoom 3. We are in pre-production right now. I am happy wherever we are at the moment," said the director.

There are a lot of speculations surrounding the film and Victor is not ready to reveal anything right now. Quiz him about the film's heroine and he says, "Because DHOOM is a successful franchise, there is a lot of speculation. We will announce the heroine when the time is right."

Victor has written films like DHOOM and DHOOM 2 in the in the past.

"I like to direct what I write. That's what I came to Mumbai for. When I started writing (DHOOM 3), I knew I would be directing it," quips the director.

He made his directorial debut with TASHAN which didn't do well at all. So, does he feel bad about it?

"As a filmmaker you have to do things that drive you. I will make the film which I feel I should and I can. Commerce is in nobody's hands. That (commercial success) should not be the only reason to make a film. TASHAN is the first film that I directed. It will always be close to me. I have been a part of PYAAR KE SIDE EFFECTS, DHOOM, DHOOM 2 and GURU. Success and failure is a part of the thing. But when you do something that does not find a resonance, you must go back and see why it didn't work."

He further adds, "TASHAN was slightly tongue-in-cheek. I get messages and calls from people today who appreciate the film. Every film finds its life. It may find it when it releases or it may find it five years later. It's bigger than all of us."

Ask him where he was after TASHAN's release and he replies, "I was part of RAAVAN. Hindi is not Mani Ratnam's forte. I help him with that. I love working with him. He's a great guy. I am always very happy being associated with him. "

Being a writer and a director does Victor feel writing and directing the same film gives a better product? "I don't think every director needs to be a writer and vice versa. Both are different streams altogether. I became a writer by default. I had come here to direct," said the filmmaker on a concluding note.
