HAUNTED promises not to follow horror cliches

HAUNTED 3D is up for release and yet again one does have good expectations from the film, courtesy director Vikram Bhatt who knows a thing or two about the genre as seen in RAAZ, 1920 and SHAAPIT. Some of the common elements expected in a horror film are ghosts, distorted faces, pools of blood, chills, flying corpses and also some gore. One wonders whether HAUNTED 3D too falls in line or takes a different route?

'Well, let me say that it is none of the above', smiles Mahakshay, the film's lead, 'Just because ' HAUNTED 3D is a horror flick, let's not take it through a cliched route please. There isn't any overdose of sex or violence in the film. There won't be a butcher who would emerge out of nowhere and start attacking people.'

Ask him that in absence of most of the aforementioned cliches, what really works in making HAUNTED 3D a really scary feature?

'Well, Vikram has played with the silence of the film', says Mahakshay, 'He has created horror by not really showing anything which is conventional horror. He is a master when it comes to horror. Did RAAZ or 1920 follow any conventional route when they were released? They instead set a benchmark for other horror films that followed. You can well expect the same with HAUNTED 3D as well. In any case we have a USP in the form of 3D technology that we have used in the film. That by itself should accentuate the scare element.'

One hopes HAUNTED 3D does meet the high standards that the cast wants us to believe
