Nana begs to differ

Nana Patekar might be again donning the role of a cop in his upcoming film SHAGIRD, but unlike his previous cop-acts, Nana vouches that this one is going to be the mother of all his cop-acts.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia, SHAGIRD promises to be a gritty tale of power and crime. Though many have the notion that this film bears similarity with Nana's earlier act in AB TAK CHAPPAN, but the veteran actor has rubbished such conclusions.

Speaking about his upcoming film SHAGIRD, which is all set to release on the 13th of this month, Nana says, "Those of you who think that this film is similar to AB TAK CHAPPAN need to know that SHAGIRD is a completely different film from it. There is o scope of comparison. For me, SHAGIRD is one of my favourite films so far and the way Tigmanshu Dhulia has put together the narrative makes it a compelling story."

Nana has also confessed the fact that he prefers to work with newcomers over established directors. Add he, "Working with newcomers is always fascinating since they have something new to share with you. I have found working with newcomers a great learning experience. Look at my past, there are so many films that I have done with newcomers and each film has been a rewarding experience."

In SHAGIRD, Nana's role is reportedly based on the late Delhi Police encounter specialist Rajbir Singh, who was shot down in the year 2008 and his death is still shrouded in mystery.
