With Ash, HEROINE would be a little different

That Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would be playing the central protagonist in Madhur Bhandarkar's HEROINE is a known fact. What hasn't been revealed so far though is that the film's script has gone through a few changes to suit her image and personality.

"With Ash coming in, it was but obvious that the script would have to be re-looked", informs a senior crew member attached to HEROINE, "It wasn't as if she was throwing her weight around. It was a mutual call taken between Ash and Madhur."

While talking about the film around a year ago, Madhur Bhandarkar had admitted that HEROINE was inspired by the troubled life of Marilyn Monroe as he was pretty intrigued by it. He had further extended this to the troubled personal lives of many other movie stars, including Elizabeth Taylor who too had gone through eight marriages and several life-threatening illnesses. None of that finds a place in the film anymore.

Confesses Bhandarkar, "HEROINE is not as much about the film industry in general but more about the journey of my central protagonist, a heroine. It will be more contemporary and would have today's setting to it."

Madhur refuses to talk about the much publicised 'love making scenes' which were pretty much the topic of debate as well when the film was first read out to Kareena. However a source from the film's writing team discloses, "They have been toned down. In any case they were never too dramatic or shocking to begin with. Madhur wasn't going to titillate the audience. In HEROINE too he would shoot everything aesthetically."

Well, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan can heave a sign of relief here.
