With Ekta around, Sanjay makes SHOOT OUT shocking

After making SHOOT OUT AT LOKHANDWALA, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta understands that the core idea of merely showing a shoot out on screen has lost it's novelty as audience can't be expected to be surprised any more. This is the reason why he is looking at reinvention for the next in the series SHOOT OUT AT WADALA by making it all the more shocking. Also with Ekta Kapoor coming into the picture as a producer, it is but obvious that her new found sense of 'shock' (as evidenced in RAGINI MMS as well as earlier films like ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI as well as LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA) has rubbed upon Sanjay as well.

Laughs Sanjay, 'Well, there is so much written material that I have handy which can make SHOOT OUT AT WADALA a truly shocking affair. With the film I am exploring the times from the late 70s to the early 80s when the first instances of encounters were being reported. We are getting into a zone to understand the psyche of gangsters as well as cops to know more about what led them to declare war on the roads.'

Based on the written material by S. Hussain Zaidi's, SHOOT OUT AT WADALA revolves around the story of gangster Manya Surve who was shot dead by police officers Raja Tambat and Isaque Bagwan at the Wadala area in the first ever encounter that occurred on January 11, 1982. The film also deals with the killing of Sabbir who was Dawood's elder brother and how Surve was the mastermind behind the whole thing.

Now it has to be seen how much the promise of 'shock' really holds good when the curtains go up.
