Ishita defies dad to step into Bollywood with PKP

A popular model, Ishita Sharma may well have continued to operate out of Delhi and be content with her modelling assignments had it not been for a chance visit to Mumbai. Born and brought up in Delhi, academically inclined Ishita was all set to join her dad's business post her brief stint with modelling before PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA came calling.

"I am a total Delhi girl and have done my graduation from Delhi and then Masters in London. I studied business there and actually wanted to join my dad since he is a businessman", says Ishita, "Some time back I just happened to bump into this photographer who encouraged me to get a portfolio made. It went well and I did quite a few print ads. I did have that thought in mind to pursue acting but my dad didn't want me to shift to Mumbai.

One can well sense that it must have been for obvious reasons.

"Exactly", she sighs, "You know how this industry is and my dad is so possessive about it. I was also sure that if I had to act, it had to for a proper heroine part and for that I knew I would have to stay in Mumbai. Nothing was really progressing on this front but once when I just came to Mumbai for four days to catch up with my cousins, I bumped into the casting director of PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA. Auditions were followed by photo shoots and after that it was time for some video test. A week later I got a call that I was on and that too with a three film contract with Pathaks."

With a dream like journey like this, now that Ishita is getting ready for her big screen debut this Friday, her dad is expectedly reacting quite positively to his daughter making her presence felt.

"Ask me", smiles Ishita, "My mom keeps telling me how he is glued to TV throughout the day as he likes seeing me on the promos. I can see that he is happy, ecstatic and extremely supportive now. With a green signal from him, I am sure about playing a long innings ahead."
