Competition Commission Of India ends multiplex issue

The Competition Commission of India, the apex body on monopolistic issues, has passed an order a few days back, drawing to close the Multiplex saga which had plagued the production & distribution sector of the film industry.

The film fraternity acknowledges, the crucial role played by Competition Commission of India, on the resolution of this important issue concerning the entertainment industry. This dispute was essentially in the nature of a difference of opinion within the industry family comprising of producers, distributors and multiplexes, which required the timely intervention of a third party arbitrator in bringing together the differing factions of the family - a role brilliantly essayed by the Competition Commission of India and Shri Dhanendra Kumar. As the popular verbatim goes - In a family dispute, it is a never a case of victory or defeat for any of the family members - this matter being of a similar nature where producers, & distributors argued with multiplexes for a course correction i.e. rationalisation and streamlining in the functioning of the entertainment industry.

All the concerned stakeholders of the film industry are of the view that this significant verdict will now hopefully lay the foundation to build the momentum for all core sectors (producers, distributors and multiplexes) to operate in harmony and solace for the years to come.
