A remake of ZANJEER?

Remakes and sequels are the flavor of the season and if all goes well, we'll be soon treated to the remake of the legendary ZANJEER, a film that single handedly catapulted Amitabh Bachchan to superstardom overnight and gave him the identity of the Angry young man.

After almost 30 odd years Amit Mehra is set to remake his father Prakash Mehra's iconic film with the blessings of his siblings Puneet and Sumeet. Amit has spent the last year working on the script which will be homage to the original. The film will be a modern take on the epic film that will attempt to keep the underlying pump and energy of the original that made it so intriguing intact.

To add to Amit's confidence the Superstar himself, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has given his blessings to Amit and his project. Amit is currently looking to tie up with the right production studios for his dream project who would share Amit's vision and ambition for the film; a source informs us that several leading production studios are keen to be a part of the venture. The source also inform us that the casting and director of the film is going to be kept under wraps for some time to maintain the novelty, however several big names are keen to reprise the role that they all grew up aping in front of the mirror.

On contacting Amit he said, "Yes I have been working on the project and there will be an official announcement soon as the film goes on floors next year."
