Chitrangada urges audience not to be scandalized

Chitrangada is all set to be seen in her first ever truly commercial film and she is indeed ecstatic about her transition from art house/middle of the road cinema. While one can see the special bond that she shares with Akshay in DESI BOYZ, a large segment of audience has been left truly amazed. Reason being that she is playing a college lecturer in the film while Akshay is her student here. One wonders that despite the film being as commercial as it gets, how such characterization is really possible since Akshay is playing someone in his mid-30s.

"Well, don't be scandalized, there is a whole back story to this," smiles Chitrangada, "Akshay is actually shown to be my senior whereas I had a crush on him. Though he didn't care much at that time, circumstances result in him returning to study in the same college. Now the tables have turned as I am the teacher and he becomes my student. With my old time crush well in place, the flirtations begin all over again."

While that sounds like a good enough reasoning, there was some thought process that Chitrangada too had to go through before venturing into DESI BOYZ. Though she doesn't say it in as many words, Chitrangada obviously feels that it was about time she stepped into quintessential Bollywood world before it was way too late.

"See, the worst thing for a professional is to sit and continue strategizing how to position one's career," she says after a deep breath, "Frankly, I don't want to sit and take clever calls by pondering over something for an extended period of time. Once you have made up your mind, one should feel right about the script and the director. In case of DESI BOYZ things fell in place. This is not a mindless film and moreover there is a certain emotional connection amongst the characters as well. I truly feel it is a best start I could enjoy in the commercial scheme of things."

Well Chitrangda, we hope so too once we catch you in all the action this Friday when DESI BOYZ releases all over.
