Shah Rukh Khan wanted to open IFFI in Bermuda shorts

This is what he said in his opening speech at the inaugural function of the 42 IFFI, Goa. He was advised not to do so by the I&B Minister and the festival authorities since they wanted it to be a proper and formal black tie affair in tune with global practices. And he obliged though he had come prepared wearing his Bermuda trunks under his pants. He was even ready to take off his pants and expose his Bermudas if Ms. Ambika Soni so desired.

This was a typical SRK banter, irreverent and embarrassing, and rarely funny for those who are not used to it. The remark was followed by a written speech full of complex ideas and sentences, read with extreme diligence of someone who holds a doctorate in cinema studies. People were left wondering if SRK himself wrote that speech or employed some FTII professor to ghost write it. The king Khan kept referring to himself as a commercial actor, which is not entirely so. IDIOT by Mani Kaul is part of IFFI's homage section this year and is one of his early films.
