After SRK-Sanju-Anil-Saif will it be John?

It is a known fact that for SHOOT OUT AT WADALA, John Abraham is turning into a desi gangster during 70s setting of Mumbai. For someone who has traditionally played a metro-sexual man belonging to the upper strata of the contemporary urban India, John would be adopting an altogether different persona. There is a reason behind this drastic transformation if the film's director Sanjay Gupta is to be believed.

"See, we have to understand that all stars have become superstars only after they have played a character which is earthy and not so white," reasons Sanjay, "Trust me, playing a role like this would further increase an audience base for John amongst different segments."

He goes on to narrate a few examples. "Look at Shahrukh; he started off with a BAAZIGAR. Anil Kapoor was seen in a new light after TEZAAB, Sanjay Dutt got further acclaim as an actor for VAASTAV, Saif was hailed furthermore as an actor after OMKARA - this is a trend that you cannot ignore. Now John has never stepped into a zone like this and it has been our endeavor to achieve with SHOOTOUT AT WADALA," he says.

To accomplish this, Sanjay Gupta has already started working on John's look for the film. Though he is unwilling to reveal that as yet stating that it is 'way too early', Gupta promises that it would indeed belong to 'never seen before' category.

A co-production of Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta, SHOOTOUT AT WADALA has veteran Anil Kapoor leading the cast, goes on floors in December and would be ready for release in late 2012.
