Paoli Dam: Gulshan Devaiah slapped me

As can be seen in the promos of HATE STORY, Paoli Dam and Gulshan Devaiah did end up finding a good tuning amongst themselves despite not quite 'talking it out' about how to get it right on screen.

''The credit for that goes to both of us', Paoli smiles, 'See, a scene doesn’t become good only if one person is performing; entire setting has to work out. Only when the two actors are entirely comfortable would the scene turn out to be the way in which it has been envisaged. To have an actor like Gulshan adds value because he is someone who is fantastic in every scene, whether it is romantic or dramatic.''

In fact there was one such dramatic scene where Gulshan felt that he went a little too far, only to be comforted by Paoli.

''There was this scene where he had to rough me up a little. He slapped me and it was so hard that I was totally shaken up in real as well. He immediately realised that and once the shot was canned, he came and said sorry to me. He was so humble that I had to remind him that it was okay if he got carried away since he was playing this man with strong grey shades'', she smiles.

While Gulshan is playing someone with grey shades in HATE STORY, Paoli is no less since she too has come across as a mysterious woman all this while.

''Well, this is what attracted me to pick up this challenge'', says Paoli, ''When Vikram Bhatt and Vivek Agnihotri told me the story and then narrated the entire script; I could just utter one word - 'Mind-blowing'. As an actor, it was very challenging for me since the character has lot of shades and variations.

HATE STORY releases all over next Friday.
