Shahrukh inaugurates Prayag Film City in Kolkata

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan inaugurated the Prayag Film City in Midnapore distrcit, Kolkata on Sunday and also became its brand ambassador.

King Khan galloping high after much awaited Kolkata Knight Riders victories on the eve of their match at the Eden Gardens Kolkata, addressed the audience gathered with his usual witty disposition and received strong applause from them. He expressed his amazement at the monumental achievement and felt "happy and honoured" to be a part of the project.

Designed by Bollywood art director cum architect Nitesh Roy, the Rs 1,000 crore project sprawls across an area of over 2,700 acres and promises to assuage "the growing demand for better film making facilities" along with the creation of a potential tourist hotspot.

Shahrukh promised his active support to the venture not only as the official "face of the project" but also as a fellow filmmaker. "I personally will make sure that we come here from Mumbai to shoot my upcoming films, once it gets fully completed that is. I will also urge my other friends to come and do their work here. The Indian film industry was in great need of a world class facility like this one and what makes me even more happy is that it is in Bengal which I personally feel is the most creative area in our country," Shahrukh said.

He was however not only present to launch the logo and the official website of the Prayag venture, but was there to entertain hundreds of people who had gathered to catch one glimpse of the Baadshah of Bollywood. He spoke with his inimitable deftness and mouthed popular dialogues from his films, BAAZIGAR, DON and even DEVDAS much to the joy of the huge gathering which applauded with much gusto and enthusiasm. But what made their day was when Shahrukh put his charismatic feet forward to swing to the tunes of 'Chammak Challo' and the deafening roars erupting from the multitudes were a testament to that fact.
