Will Aamir Khan hit bulls eye with the idiot box as well?

Aamir Khan has gone on record to thank his fans and followers for the stupendous reception that they have accorded to the title song of his television debut SATYAMEV JAYATE, which is going to start sometime in May. Strategist that he is, each and every step has a reason behind it, so Aamir Khan instead of taking the prime time slot of 9 pm for his television debut has taken the forenoon slot of 11 am on Sundays, the slot which made Mahabharat and Ramayana a cult phenomenon, that used to stop all the activities of the nation as it congregated in front of the idiot box to soak in the ambience of period drama with toppings of religious fervor.

Aamir Khan is striving to create the same feeling, and by choosing the slot of 11 am on the day time has undertaken a master strategy, the strategy of bringing the whole family together to watch a television program. In these times where in most of the families one has two-three television sets, if Aamir Khan is able to bring the whole family together he could also revive the family bonds once again which otherwise in this age of multitude of television programs has been reduced to interaction in the form of monosyllables.

As a matter of fact right from the time when Big B made his debut on television, the big stars who have followed him have been successful in generating a euphoria around their debut and have been catalytic in bringing the family together again to interact with the stars through the television. It is altogether a different story that most of the stars were not able to maintain the connect to the audience through their sitting rooms subsequently.

Would Aamir Khan be a success story of a higher dimension as compared to his peers, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan when he makes his debut on television? From the face of it, it appears to be like that, as Aamir Khan has chosen the subject to interact with the audience judiciously, it is the subject of national pride, fervor, fight against corruption, issues that the common man grapples with day in and day out. In case of Shahrukh Khan it was a quiz show through which he interacted and the same was with Salman Khan, but a topical issue has more potential to keep the audience glued to the television. Aamir is Aamir, there is an anticipation that his engagement would be much more enlivening.

If it so happens, advertising companies would return to television in a big way as well, as the time slot of Aamir's program is one hour and it provides a veritable opportunity to the advertisers to bask in the reflected glory and engage with the audience through their product and innovative campaigns underlining the spirit of SATYAMEV JAYATE. If it happens, Aamir and the advertisers would go laughing all the way to the bank, and the audience also would have an entertainment they have been searching for on the television.
