GRAND MASTI to take adult humour to the next level

A few weeks back it was being whispered in the industry circles that sequel to MASTI was pretty much on the cards and would be titled GRAND MASTI. It was taken with a pinch of salt though since the film's director Indra Kumar was also said to be busy contemplating bringing third in the franchise of DHAMAAL. Since MASTI along with DHAMAAL as well as DOUBLE DHAMAAL were successful, the ball was in the director's court to pick and choose. As has turned out now, it is GRAND MASTI which is the chosen one and the film is now all set to go on floors with practically the same cast this July.

''Yes, the core cast of MASTI has been retained. Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi as well as Aftab Shivdasani feature in this naughty comedy which would again have ample adult references to it. In any case audience is quite receptive of adult humour today and if box office collections of DELHI BELLY followed by smash response to the first promo of KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM is any indication, even GRAND MASTI would as unabashed as it gets,'' says our well placed source.

This is pretty much apparent from the fact that the word 'Grand' itself comes with its own hidden innuendo and just a letter or two being moved around can drastically change the overall reference here.

Quips one of the finalised actors, ''I remember using such references during the college days. In fact I was shocked with (writer) Milap Zaveri told me about the title. But I think DELHI BELLY ke baad toh sab maaf hai. Woh seedha seedha bol sakte hain, we are still playing the hinting game.''

Whatever is the final outcome here, one thing is quite sure that GRAND MASTI is being planned as a holds-no-bar film which won't really constraint itself in any boundaries. Meanwhile the hunt for leading ladies is on as none of the girls from the original - Genelia D'Souza, Amrita Rao or Tara Sharma - would be repeated here. Same holds true for Ajay Devgn and Lara Dutta as well since their part got over in MASTI.

''In any case GRAND MASTI is a franchise instead of being a sequel. The 'masti' between these three boys would remain intact but the characterisation would change,'' the source adds.

Well, given the fact that Riteish as well as Vivek are married today, one waits to see whether their respective wives would approve their 'Grand Masti'.
