When would ZILA GHAZIABAD see light of the day?

When launched, ZILLA GHAZIABAD has seen decent hype building around it. At that time, Sanjay Dutt and Vivek Oberoi weren't really hot though Arshad Warsi inclusion in the film did add weight to the proceedings. However for some unknown reasons, the film is just not reaching the finishing line.

"It is surprising because everyone associated with that is quite gung ho about the story and setting," informs a source, "Also, now that Sanju has delivered a superhit in AGNEEPATH and his DEPARTMENT is looking fantastic as well, there is renewed interest in the film."

Touted to be a hard hitting tale set in Ghaziabad, the film promises to expose the nexus between politicians, cops and industrialists. In fact there were also talks that the film had many characters based on real life personalities. Though designed to be finished in quick time, the film is still waiting in the wings even as everyone else associated with it has moved on.

"Vivek is on a signing spree and at last count is committed to do around half a dozen films by end of next year. Arshad too has gone ahead and finished two more films in the interim. Meanwhile Sanju also released DOUBLE DHAMAAL and RASCALS last year while AGNEEPATH has released and now DEPARTMENT all set to arrive as well. However there is no sign of ZILA GHAZIABAD," the source continues.

Now this is all the more disappointing for many associated with the film, especially someone like Geeta Basra who also shot a specially designed item number 'Ghaziabad Ki Rani Hoon Main' a few months back and has been waiting for it to hit the screen. However, with no sign of the film to arrive, everyone is just adopting a wait and watch approach.

"In fact now if the film indeed plans to arrive soon, it would have massive competition ahead since June is totally stuffed with the biggies like ROWDY RATHORE, SHANGHAI and TERI MERI KAHAANI," comments a trade source.

As of now everyone associated with the film has decided to keep mum instead of making any loud declarations. Perhaps they would once the mystery around it unfolds and the real reason behind the delay is exposed.
