Karan Johar's STUDENT OF THE YEAR releases Oct 19

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions on Monday officially announced the release date of its new film STUDENT OF THE YEAR (SOTY).

SOTY, jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment, is slated to release on Oct 19.

Says a source, "Karan's been shooting in Bangkok for the past several weeks now and he's expected to return sometime in the first week of May. He's extremely excited to work with a bunch of newcomers and had been talking about their young energetic vibe reminding him of his own days as a newcomer."

Through this comedy, Karan will be launching David Dhawan's son Varun, Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Alia and newbie Siddharth Malhotra.

STUDENT OF THE YEAR is Karan Johar's next directorial venture after his 2010 film MY NAME IS KHAN.

The movie will also showcase versatile actors like Rishi Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, whereas Shahrukh Khan and Boman Irani will be doing a cameo in it. Boman will be sharing screen space with his son Kayoze Irani.
