Boman Irani did not want Farah Khan in SHIRIN FARHAD...

A lot has been written and talked about the casting of the recently released film SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI starring Boman Irani and Farah Khan, especially about choreographer & director-turned-actor Farah Khan, who made her acting debut with the film. There was lot of speculation & apprehension as to whether Farah would fit the bill or not. While the makers were always sure that Boman and Farah would make a good on-screen pair, co-star Boman Irani, who shares an endearing chemistry with Farah Khan in the film now, initially didn't find the idea of having Farah as great.

Boman reveals, 'When I was narrated the script I at once asked who's going to be leading lady and they said Farah Khan and my reaction was like 'Mar Gaye',' he adds, 'To be honest here, it did not strike me as a great idea. But then I quickly closed my eyes and started visualizing Farah in that character, the only thing I could think of is If Farah can take her real life character and put it into Shirin's shoes than its fine. The moment she starts acting it will be a trouble. Excitingly, Farah has done exactly that. Ten minutes later I thought it's a brilliant idea to have Farah on board. Then another thought crossed my mind was If not Farah than who will do this role?

In fact it was Boman Irani's wife Zenobia, who was more than excited to know that Farah Khan is paired opposite him. She was the one who encouraged hubby Boman Irani to take up the project and was absolutely confident about it.

'When I shared the script with my wife she asked me who the leading lady is and as soon as I took Farah's name She immediately told me, 'Do the film without giving a second thought. It's fantastic and exciting. The casting looks great. Farah will manage everything',' says the actor.

SHIRIN FARHAD KI TOH NIKAL PADI is Bela Sehgal Bhansali's directorial debut. And it is produced by Bela's filmmaker brother Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
