Known as the 'He-man' of Bollywood, veteran actor Dharmendra, who turns 77 today and has given 52 years to the industry, feels his 1969 film SATYAKAM, directed by legendary Hrishikesh Mukherjee, which is considered to be his finest performance till date, can be remade as the subject of the film is quite relevant in today's context. The film deals with incessant problem of corruption. Though Hrishikesh & Dharmendra worked together in many other films and Hrishi da made many notable films, SATYAKAM is his favorite.

When we asked Dharampaaji about his view on remaking his films (as remakes are currently order of the day in Bollywood), he at once hinted SATYAKAM's name. ''I think SATYKAM can be remade from today's point of view. As SATYKAM deals with corruption and today whatever we are facing SATYAKAM is based on that. It can very well work in today's time if remade.''
While ask him about his 1978 cult film SHALIMAR, which may not have done business at BO but it won the hearts of many, and he outspokenly says what went wrong with the film, ''SHALIMAR could have been much better when it came. The way the film was shaped I was not happy with it. We, I and SHALIMAAR director Krishna Shah, even had little argument over it. There was certain disagreement over the presentation of the film. Since it was a caper movie like JUGNU, I wanted it to be presented in a certain way so that an excitement is created. SHALIMAR had that potential to go to an altogether different level. Having said that, I can't deny the fact that there were nice sequences and some really good songs to vouch for.''

Probe him if would like to see a remake of SHALIMAR or would love to redo it and he says, ''If I make than I'll make a fantastic one. Log hil jaayenge....''

Lastly, ask him, after playing myriad roles and doing variety of genres, Dharamji still craves for any particular role or film or about his unfulfilled bucket list and he says, ''Craving toh jaani nahi chhaiye. Staying passionate is only life....I am still unsatisfied. The day you are satisfied you stop growing further. To be frank, sometimes I even feel surprised that I became an actor or I could become an actor. I still feel I am a common man. In fact, I don't feel I am an actor. My 50 years in the industry passed like a dream.''

We wish Dharampaaji a very Happy birthday.
