2012 as it comes to a close would also be remembered in the annals of the Hindi cinema where Hindi film actresses created their own niche and also contributed to the success of a film in no less a significant manner than their male counterparts. Here is a look at these actresses who underlined the fact that they are no more just items of show piece in the plot of a film, but are an integral part of the success story of the film or rather one should say now they are the box office queens.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA: Piggy Chops with two contrasting performances, one as a typical Marathi girl living in the slums of Mumbai having aspirations and dreams to make her life in Mumbai in a respectful manner in AGNEEPATH, and other as an autistic child who may have grown physically, but continued to have a mind of a child in BARFI! underlined the fact that indeed she is an actor worth reckoning. Icing on the cake for her was her debut as a pop star wherein she made waves all over the world with the number-Life in a city.
