**Will firang babe Amy Jackson gain foothold in industry?**

EKK DEEWANA THA, which is Prateik's first solo film, since the time he made his debut in the world of Hindi cinema, a romantic film also introducing Amy Jackson on to Hindi cinema. One does not know whether it is a part of publicity or what, but Prateik has reportedly fallen madly in love with his heroine Amy Jackson from EDT.

Amy Jackson, who would be in all probability be the first lady from outside India (she is a British model) who made her debut in business of entertainment in India through a Tamil film MADHARASPATTINAM for which she was also awarded the best debut award as well. Now after having made her mark in Tamil cinema, she is leaving no stone unturned to make her mark in Hindi cinema as well, and she is being helped by her romantic association with her hero Prateik.

It indeed is one of the most amusing trait in the world of Hindi cinema that as soon as a girl with white skin (Caucasian race to be exact) lands in the world of entertainment in India (aka Bollywood), she is lapped up with velvet globes. Amy Jackson is the latest case in point, and lot of anticipation is being built around her debut.

Does it underline the fact that the preference for a white skin in the Indian filmmaking fraternity per se, and the Indian public in general is what provides these ladies an opportunity to try out their luck? Slowly, but surely, they have taken over the crowd composition in Hindi cinema and every now and then a new face as a leading lady keeps on popping up.

Leading lady as an import in Hindi cinema seems to be with the viewpoint of injecting a sense of curiosity as for a common Indian public to have an interaction or an interface with a lady with white skin is an occasion that exists more in the realm of fantasy, and it is the cinematic oeuvre that provides this escape. Remember Nargis Fakhri, well, she made her debut in the world of Hindi cinema at the ripe age of 34 years, with ROCKSTAR at a time when most of the Indian female lead actors are forced into secondary roles on the silver screen. Or for that matter a Sunny Leone, a Claudia Ciesla, a Jacqueline Fernandez who all have dabbled in one form or the other with the modes of entertainment in India, be it cinema or television, and their sole passport to such entry has been the color of their skin.

Only a Katrina Kaif has made a success out of her association with the world of Hindi cinema, and it would be great interest to watch how Amy Jackson fares with EKK DEEWANA THA. Would association with Prateik help her in gaining foothold in industry? One needs only to wait for a week to find out.
