CHAURAHEN, which is going to be released on 16th March 2012, among numerous firsts would also have the distinction of being the debut film of granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, and a great granddaughter of Eugene O'Neil, Kierra Chaplin, who has been voted as the 7th sexiest women in the world by GQ, and 17th most desirable woman by FHM. With such a pedigree what would have prompted her to exercise her options of working in a Hindi film, and that too in a film like CHAURAHEN which is based on the writing of Nirmal Verma, so it would have an element of cerebral associated with it?

Amy Jackson, who was Miss Teen world 2008, and runners up in Miss England 2010, made her debut in EKK DEEWANA THA and has already found a place for herself in the hearts of Prateik, apart from vying for the foothold in Hindi film industry.

Actresses of the likes of Kierra Chaplin or Amy Jackson who could have made a successful career for themselves in their respective countries took the call to come to India and struggle and find a place for themselves in the world of Hindi cinema. What makes Hindi cinema so endearing that now even Caucasian beauties are trying their luck in the world of Hindi cinema? After all, their body constructs and color of skin is not the specification by which the conventional notion of beauty is defined in India!

It is more to do with the fact in all probability that Indian cinema is now being recognized internationally as a category, or rather a market whose outreach is unparalleled by any other film industry anywhere in the world. A professional who is pursuing a career in the world of entertainment always aspires to let his craft and the ability of performance reach the widest audience, and it is the primary reason why stars are aspiring to be a part of the magic that Hindi cinema is undergoing at present.

Well, the question then can be asked, why is the intervention from female side only and male actors are not making attempts to be a part of this journey as well?

The moot point is, that a female actor, in the typical commercial set-up has to do a dance, enact few scenes and her role is over, besides, the handicap of dialogue delivery is overcome through voiceovers. Coupled with this is the fact that for an average cinema viewer a female actor with a white is an added attraction, but a male actor in white skin is not acceptable at all.

The Caucasian beauty injects an element of novelty to the screen, and it also adds an element of internationalism to the cinematic oeuvre which facilitates in marketing the product internationally. Well, as the scenario is panning out, what kind of portents does it have for Indian beauties in the world of Hindi cinema?
