Gautham: Youth will love EKK DEWANA THA

Gautham Menon, of The REHNAA HAI TERRE DIL MEIN fame, returns to Bollywood after a decade with the film EKK DEEWANA THA, starring Prateik & Amy Jackson in the lead. Though his first venture in Bollywood was not a blockbuster at the box office, Gautham is quite confident about his latest offering. Gautham says, ''I am confident of EKK DEEWANA THA and I am sure it will work for me. Though I was not signing films in Bollywood, I always kept myself busy with one or the other films in other languages. I took films as they came. Every year I had releases. Language doesn't matter for me.''

EKK DEEWANA THA has already been made in Tamil and Telugu. Ask him what induced him to remake it in Hindi and Gautham says, ''It worked well in Tamil and Telugu versions. Fox Star Studios too liked the film and eventually I decided to make it in Hindi.''

An array of boy-meets-girl love stories have been made in Bollywood in the past. So what is the new and special offering in EKK DEEWANA THA? ''EKK DEEWANA THA has old-world charm. In the last 4-5 years we have only seen new-age kind of love stories, which don't happen in real life. EDT is very real and relatable and not fancy in its treatment. People will identify with this love story. Youth will love it,'' claims Menon.

Gautham has paid special attention to the music of EKK DEEWANA THA. From roping in music genius A. R. Rahman to launching the music of the film against the glorious backdrop of the Taj Mahal, Agra, the maverick director has done it all to highlight the music of the film. ''It's a musical love story and thus music plays a pivotal part in this film. We are banking on the music to attract eyeballs,'' avers a candid Gautham.

Where filmmakers crave to work with big names, Gautham chose fresh talents for his much raved about film. Says Gautham, ''We wanted fresh faces both for girl and the boy's part, who are not exposed to the world. While Prateik is a budding actor, Amy is absolutely new to this area.''

Further praising Prateik's potency as an actor, Gautham says, ''Prateik is director's actor. He has worked hard for this film - from changing his body language to his voice.''

Prateik-Amy's love saga EKK DEEWANA THA releases on 17th February 2012.
