Vikram Bhatt: Only Salman and sensation sell

Move over Neha Dhupia, as Vikram Bhatt is here. The actress had famously quoted, ages ago, "Only sex and Shahrukh Khan sell". While the quote has stood the test of time, it is all set to see a worthy enough replacement coming in with Vikram sharing his words of wisdom. As he gets set to unleash three of his films this year, Vikram now says famously that in Bollywood today, 'only Salman and sensation sell'.

"But isn't that a fact?" questions Vikram who has gone through his own battles of trying to strike a balance between the star system, the content he wants to present and the audience's expectations, "It doesn't matter what are kind of films Salman does or the stories that he tells; he still draws in people. Audiences come to theatres just in order to see a phenomenon which goes by the name of Salman Khan."

While this may seem like an over dramatised account of fans worshiping Salman, Vikram is quick to add that films like READY and BODYGUARD may not necessarily be his idea of movie making but there isn't much any filmmaker can say when audience seem to be giving these films thumbs-up and hailing Salman Khan.

"This is the reason why as a filmmaker you have to think of 'what else'. If you are not making a film with Salman Khan, what should you do to bring audience into theatres? Well, my answer is 'sensation'," says Vikram who has worked with the likes of top stars like Aamir Khan (GHULAM), Amitabh Bachchan (AETBAAR), Akshay Kumar (AWARA PAAGAL DEEWANA) and Hrithik Roshan (AAP MUJHE ACHCHE LAGNE LAGE) but is now creating a space of his own with his brand of sensational cinema.
