Ranbir Kapoor's BARFI! act gets thumbs up

'Unanimous' could well be a single word that describes the verdict that has been passed for Ranbir Kapoor ever since the promo of BARFI! arrived online. While it was always expected that this Anurag Basu film would be a sensitive take on affairs, considering the fact it had its lead characters being physically challenged, the lively narrative coupled with Ranbir's bravura performance has seemingly caught everyone's attention.

''He is the greatest young actor of the current generation,'' says a leading filmmaker who was bowled over with what he saw, ''Ranbir has proved his mettle as an actor par excellence in numerous films.''

This would indeed come as a sigh of relief for the Kapoor scion who not just had to go through an agonisingly long wait for the film to be completed but also hear negative talks about it being too dry and sans any entertainment quotient.

''One can now imagine how he would have felt. After giving two years to the film, Ranbir was obviously disappointed with the loose talk. However now that the film's texture is out in open, Ranbir is back to receiving compliments,'' says a close associate.

In fact it was pretty brave on the part of makers to release a promo like this which doesn't feature a single dialogue.

''But then it goes with the theme of the film since neither Ranbir nor Priyanka Chopra can hear or speak in the film,'' he adds, ''No wonder, the film has a very Chaplin-sque feel to it as it appears to be brought out from the bygone era. It is like a painting in motion.''
