Deepika Padukone: Rajinikanth is like a child

The shooting of Deepika Padukone andRajinikanth's much touted film KOCHADAIYAAN, a 3D Motion Capture flick, is completed and Deepika is mighty excited about this project.

Deepika, who has worked with megastar for the first time, is overwhelmed with Rajinikanth's enthusiasm. She says, ''He is a child in the candy shop. I have never seen an actor more excited than him on the sets. He comes on the sets with full energy and greets everyone. He treats his daughter like a director on the sets. He's never satisfied with one take. Even though the director is fine he will go for another take and keeps perfecting it all the time.''

''He and Amitji are actors to look upon. I have never seen such actors who are so excited and you can see the passion in their eyes,'' she further adds.

But ask her if she was intimidated and felt the pressure of working opposite a super icon like Rajini and she says, ''No, I don't look at it like that. I might feel it before but somehow when I walk on to the sets and when the camera starts rolling I switch off from all of that feeling. May be which is why even in OM SHANTI OM I was able to hold my own. After a point you have to switch off from that as you are playing a character and that's what I am required to do.''

Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, daughter of Rajinikanth, the film is expected to be the first Indian 3D film shot with the kind of performance capturing technology used in Hollywood films such as AVATAR and THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN.

Deepika throws light on the new technique used in the film, ''It's actually a new technique which is usually used abroad in the films. Through this technique, the actors are not required to shoot for an entire film. Basically an actor goes to a studio for 3-4 days where the various emotions, expressions are captured and everything else is done digitally. So, I am already done with that process of the film. KOCHADAIYAAN is very heavy on post-production. It's almost like animation meets reality.''

''We only have to do scenes where we have physical contact or where there are scenes which involve heavy emotions...It's a very new process for me. I started understanding after I finished doing it. It's a very complex process but basically the emotions of an actor are captured separately and then with the help of digital platform and post-production they then create these characters and make it look real.''

Produced by Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment Limited, the film also stars R. Sarathkumar and is scheduled to release later this year.
