Deepika on COCKTAIL: Imtiaz writes strong parts for ladies

COCKTAIL has released and Deepika Padukone is relishing all the accolades coming her way. Those who have a dekko at the film vouch for the fact that Deepika has approached the role of Veronica in as spirited a manner as it can be. Now that is also as a shot in the arm for Deepika who was questioned when she did DESI BOYZ and was seen in a rather de-glam avatar for AARAKSHAN. It was this very reason that made her sure that there would be enough zing in COCKTAIL for Deepika to get high. Moreover with Imtiaz as the writer of the film (with whom she has done LOVE AAJ KAL before), she was all the more assured.

"You have put it just aptly," she smiles, "See, Imtiaz knows a thing or two about writing strong parts for his leading ladies. Whether it is a part written for Kareena (JAB WE MET), Nargis (ROCKSTAR) or I (LOVE AAJ KAL, COCKTAIL), they have all been really solid and meaty. Same was the case with Veronica. What further helped in executing Imtiaz's vision was Homi (Adajania) taking over as a director. He treated Imtiaz's script as his own baby and took a good script to an entirely different level."

Meanwhile, yet again after LOVE AAJ KAL, one can sense that her chemistry with Saif Ali Khan is very visible. So as per her, what is it between the two of them that clicks?

"I think one of the biggest reasons why people see a lot of chemistry between the two of us is due to the kind of films that we have done. Whether it is LOVE AAJ KAL or now COCKTAIL, what has stood out is the fact that these have been the kind of love stories that audience can relate to. Yes, I know that we keep using this much used and abused term but then it's the fact. The moment you start relating to the character, the chemistry starts seeming all the more palpable," she details, "Other than that I think it is all intangible and you can't really express the chemistry in mere words."
