Deepika ecstatic as COCKTAIL surpasses her last biggie HOUSEFULL

Deepika Padukone is ecstatic. After all, COCKTAIL has now surpassed her last biggie HOUSEFULL, what with collections crossing the 72 crore mark and the lifetime collections of 80 crores pretty much in sight. Though it isn't really finding itself in the 100 crores club (not that it was aspiring for that in the first place), it is still the biggest ever romcom success for multiplex audience.

"Of course all of this indeed sounds flattering for sure," smiles Deepika, "Still, the kind of response that the film is getting, it is indeed overwhelming. And by the way, that's not just because I am a part of the film but also because I have always truly enjoyed doing love stories. I am partial towards such films and it's nice to know that today not only comedy, drama or action films are doing well but there is definite place for a pure love story to do such good business as well."

She has all the right reasons to say that. After all, the last romcom to do so well was LOVE AAJ KAL and that had netted around 70 crores at the box office. Now that she has been a part of both films, it is clear that she would be seen in many more of such outings in coming years as well.

"For sure," she perks up further, "You can see from my body of work that I have experimented with roles and choice of films but romance is something that really charges me up most. Today when people are sitting down and talking about COCKTAIL being the highest grossing love story at multiplexes after LOVE AAJ KAL, it is indeed a happy feeling."

Guess it's time now for Deepika to raise the bar further and do something extraordinary with her next love story, YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI.
