FERRARI KI SAWAARI, Father's day and the father-son relationship in Hindi cinema

The relationship between a father and a son is one of the pet themes that have been explored by the world of Hindi cinema with great flourish and it has produced one of the finest performances in acting that Hindi cinema could ever conjure. It indeed is fortuitous that on the eve of the Father's Day that would be celebrated on Sunday, 17th June, the release on offer FERRARI KI SAWAARI also explores this nuance in a different context. It is also an interesting aspect that Vidhu Vinod Chopra Productions experimented with this nuance, the relationship between a Parsee father and his son with a great flourish in MUNNA BHAI MBBS and now he has taken it to an altogether different dimension in FERRARI KI SAWAARI.

A new nuance has been added to this relationship where the relationship has been extended to that between a father and a son, a grandfather and his grandson with the father playing a link in between, or rather an exasperated link trying to match the whims and fancies of a foggy grandfather and a naughty son. The dilemma has been projected with panache by Sharman Joshi, being pulled at both the ends, on the one end by his father Boman Irani and on the other end by his son.

One of the highlights of FERRARI KI SAWAARI is the cricket match that is played between the grandfather and the grandson, when the son Sharman Joshi challenges the father to bowled out his son and the father-Boman Irani takes up the challenge and the love and bonding that is displayed on the screen has emerged as a highlight of the film and all the fathers and the sons as also the grandfathers and the grandsons should go to see FERRARI KI SAWAARI.
