Ajay Devgn: We had to push Abhishek into our zone of comedy

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan may be known for his droll, quicksilver, subtle sense of humour which can have you splits in matter of seconds but when it came to doing comedy in his upcoming film BOL BACHCHAN, a larger-than life entertainer, Abhi had to shift gears and adopt to filmmaker Rohit Shetty and actor Ajay Devgn's brand of humor i.e. loud, over the top.

Ajay says, ''We really had to push Abhishek to get him into our zone of comedy. His comedy timing pattern is different than ours.''

Abhishek adds in, ''What Ajay wanted to say is there's a particular pitch to every film. And you have to match up to it. You cannot be performing in the way which is not suitable to the screenplay. My style of comedy was very different to what this film required. My type of comedy is very deadpan. They really taught me and changed my style of comedy; they made me unlearn whatever I have learnt so far.

Abhishek enjoyed getting into Rohit-Ajay's zone; nevertheless it was demanding and took almost a week for him to adjust with their style.

Abhi says, ''I had to adopt their style which was very difficult, very demanding. It requires lot of energy and one has to be alert. It took me about a week to adjust and understand their style. The first week of filming was tough. I was prepared to do in a particular way but theirs (Rohit and Ajay) was a different idea. And full credit to Ajay he didn't give up for me, he kept working at it. He really taught how to get it right.''

''I thought it will be an easy film to do but it turned out to be the most difficult film of my career. I have done some difficult films in the past but this film was just exhausting. It was my misconception that since it's a comedy film it will be like a holiday but it wasn't,'' adds the actor.

BOL BACHCHAN once again brings the trio - Abhishek, Rohit and Ajay together. Earlier they had teamed up for the film ZAMEEN. However, ZAMEEN, Rohit's debut film as director, was a thriller.

Ask Abhi about his bonding with the famous director-actor duo and he says, 'Rohit and my bonding dates back to the time when I was a production assistant. AJ (Ajay Devgn) is like an elder brother to me. So there's huge amount of faith that I have in him.'

BOL BACHCHAN releases on 6th July 2012.
