Dull start for KAHAANI and CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI!

With the two week old TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA and last week's PAAN SINGH TOMAR still doing well, the new releases, KAHAANI and CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI, were not expected to embark on a big start. All the same, the dull opening of the two ventures was rather disappointing.

Of the two, it was Vidya Balan's KAHAANI that everyone expected to embark on at least a decent start, rather than the 40-50 percent opening that the film could muster, even in the metro multiplexes. In fact a large section of the print, web and broadcast media was of the view that the recent National Award for Vidya would translate into a good start for KAHAANI, but it was not so.

Having said that, the positive word of mouth for KAHAANI, especially amongst the elite audience, aided additionally by the 4 and 5 star reviews, would definitely result in a pick up over the weekend.

Even Samir Karnik's high on entertainment quotient, CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI, could barely garner a 30-40 percent start but was better at single screens of the Hindi belt. Moreover a good feedback for the entertaining CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI, amongst the massy and younger audience (especially in medium and small centers), may well result in a positive growth in collections over the weekend.
