AGENT VINOD is Saif Ali Khan's biggest opening

Celebrations on the cards for Saif Ali Khan, as his recent home production Illuminati's AGENT VINOD took a spectacular opening at the box office, the star's biggest opening so far.

The action spy thriller that collected 10 crores at the box office on its opening day, is fast becoming one of the biggest films of the year courtesy its hi-octane action, peppy music and production values on par international standards giving Saif Ali Khan aka Agent Vinod his career's biggest solo opening.

Says an acclaimed trade analyst, "Saif Ali Khan has grown as an actor and also grown as a box-office power. The number of screens first decides the craze for the film and the first day business is an indicator of its strength at the box office. The massive figures only go to show that Saif has a rare combination of talent and box office pull."

Says another critic, "Saif has shown a remarkable growth over the last 20 years. Starting as a dancing hero in numerous 'masala' films, sustaining himself in that mode for a decade when the world was gunning for him, taking a calculated risk to do strong roles in 'Big Three' Khan driven films like KAL HO NA HO (Shahrukh), DIL CHAHTA HAI (Aamir) and HUM SAATH SAATH HAI (Salman) when it was time to reinvent, coming on his own with the likes of HUM TUM, OMKARA, RACE and LOVE AAJ KAL and now living his dream with his biggest film AGENT VINOD, Saif has promised.....and delivered."

With the trade touting it as Bollywood's very first action-franchise, having shot in over 12 countries across the world including Morocco, Russia and Latvia, the highly anticipated action-adventure took an impressive opening, an encouraging testament that Indian audiences are opening up to slick-past paced cinema.

The film also marks Saif Ali Khan's entrant as the newest action hero. Says Saif Ali Khan, "I have challenged myself physically in roles before. One such role was of 'Langda Tyagi' in OMKARA. In AGENT VINOD, I had to be fit, very fit. I had to train hard. It was a grueling schedule to do action. It is very demanding. I have a lot of respect for action heroes because I've got to know what it takes to be one."

The Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer AGENT VINOD released worldwide on March 23, 2012.
