Parineeti: Don't have an edge over Arjun Kapoor

When Parineeti started working on ISHAQZAADE, she was already one film old. On the other hand Arjun Kapoor was an absolute newcomer. While both are being appreciated for their terrific performance in the film, while shooting for the film did Parineeti ever feel that she had an edge over her co-star?

''Not really,'' says Parineeti, 'Though Arjun used to joke around on the sets by calling me a veteran, it wasn't true. He comes from a family that lives, talks and breathes films all the time. He is a filmmaker's son and hence there are a lot of aspects of filmmaking which I would not be aware of and he would explain those to me. He has grown up on sets and the whole filmy affair comes naturally to him. Only difference is that I had a little more experience than him in front of the camera but by the time he was on the sets for 10-12 days, even that difference was gone.''

Now that the film has released, it can be seen that despite being a romantic entertainer, it is as violent streak as it gets. Was she prepared for that?

''Well, the idea was to make a complete entertainer with all ingredients in it. It is a love story which has everything from great drama, action and romance to spice up the plot. Added to that are human emotions like anger, humour, jealousy and betrayal which have managed to connect well with the audience. In a way it also have us an edge over routine 'boy meets girl' romcoms,'' she smiles, ''Yes, even RICKY BAHL was a romantic comedy and I really enjoyed doing it. However as an actor you want to do different things and want to explore a larger range of emotions through the story. ISHAQZAADE fitted the bill.''

That's indeed true Parineeti.
