ARJUN's arrow hits the target, AASMAAN is overcast!

With multiple releases hitting the cinemas, it was but natural that all were slated to suffer, and it comes as no surprise that none of them (barring ARJUN - THE WARRIOR PRINCE) could make much of an impact at the ticket window.

Still from the bunched releases it was the animated ARJUN: THE WARRIOR PRINCE which managed the best collections (15-25 percent), thereby getting patronage from its school going target audience. Additionally the good revenue that will accrue from the DVD and satellite rights will make sure that ARJUN: THE WARRIOR PRINCE is a profitable venture for all concerned, taking nothing away from the high quality animation and rich production values.

The other significant release of the week, YEH KHULA AASMAAN, saw poor collections in the range of around 10 percent on an average and will find it difficult to even be a coverage fare despite the festival acclaim and low budget.

Meanwhile last Friday's DEPARTMENT barely netted 12 crores (to be validated) from India and is an expected trade disaster, especially after the dull start in spite of many big names being associated with it.

With an almost open field and intrinsic merits, that appealed to the paying audience (especially in the interiors), Yash Raj Films' ISHAQZAADE added nearly 12 crore with a very stable run, and has netted 37.50 crore (to be validated) in two weeks from India, thus becoming a clear hit for the makers, who are also the distributors.
