This formula of a street walker being a part of the quest to unravel a mystery came into vogue in a big way when probably the first star of Indian noir, Dev Anand, provided an opportunity to Waheeda Rehman to enact the role in CID and create one of the most enigmatic street walkers that have ever walked the cinematic screen in Indian cinema. In TEESRI MANZIL, which again is one of the best murder mysteries produced in Hindi cinema, incidentally by Aamir Khan's uncle, Naseer Hussain, Helen had enacted the role with panache and added an element of thrill to the narrative of the film. Surprisingly enough, such kind of characterization does not form a part of the murder mysteries in Hollywood films as a defining trait. CHECK OUT: Is TALAASH an extension of Satyamev Jayate for Aamir?May be, the world of Hindi cinema includes it owing to the fact that in the Indian world flesh trade and illegal contraband trade exist together, it also exists in the same way all over the world, but probably Hindi cinema picks it up owing to the fact that it provides an opportunity to dabble in the genre of exploring sexual moments, which otherwise are difficult to experiment with on the screen. For Kareena Kapoor it could be an Outlier moment as when she had enacted the role of a hooker for the first time in CHAMELI she had taken her first step forward towards stardom and as an actor to watch out for. After her marriage, TALAASH could turn out to be her consolidation status moment of her standing in the industry.
