Mallika Sherawat takes a break from item numbers

With as many as three item numbers last year, 'Razia' [THANK YOU], 'Shalu' [BIN BULAYE BARAATI], 'Jalebi Bai' [DOUBLE DHAMAAL] with an extended role, and one this year in the form of 'Laila' [TEZZ], it was about time that Mallika Sherawat was seen in a full-fledged leading lady role. While KISMET LOVE PAISA DILLI [KLPD] is a major step in that direction, Mallika has indeed moved on, what with talks being on for films where she would be seen as a central protagonist again.

"Absolutely", Mallika perks up here, "I don't know why most of the makers out there look at me as this overtly, glamorous girl. I can play girl next door role as well. I did that in PYAAR KE SIDE EFFECTS and now with KLPD I am happy to be doing something similar again. Change is always good and who knows, tomorrow I would be seen in something altogether different. Be ready for some surprises."

One wonders though what's happening on Sonu Sood starrer LUCKY UNLUCKY where she was supposed to be playing a Jat athlete.

She says, "Well, I have just read the script and I really love it. I like the director and the sensibility where he is coming from. However beyond that I don't know what's happening on the film. I am waiting for the makers to come back on that."
