Why is Varun Dhawan avoiding Karan Johar?

If you find Varun Dhawan avoiding questions around his mentor and director Karan Johar that would be for a reason. He has been specifically asked not to mention Karan Johar much in his interviews, let aside appreciating him on a public forum. The boy is as clueless as he can be and is only wondering whether this would be the right move, especially when STUDENT OF THE YEAR is his debut flick. However he can't help but just follow this diktat. Reason being that the orders have come from none other than Karan Johar himself.

"Just imagine. Ek taraf yeh banda hai jisne mujhe break diya hai. On the other hand he has now told me and others to stop praising him during interviews. He feels that it is too boring for people to read and hear about all the time. How do I help it though? If I am here today speaking to you, it is because of him," says Varun in an animated tone even as he gears himself up for the final leg of the film's promotional plans.

Though he stops himself from going overboard when gushing about Karan Johar, he has no qualms admitting that he just couldn't stay normal on the sets of the film to begin with at least.

"Really, my hands were cold for the first 10-15 days. Luckily it was for a song and not the talkie part. Still, my mind as well as body was under shock since I just couldn't accept the fact that I was working with Karan Johar. Not just that as the song was being choreographed by Farah Khan. To share a common platform with these bigwigs and still stay cool and normal was one real tough piece of acting assignment for me," smiles Varun.

On a lighter note, he adds, "I am sure even for Karan there must have these nervous moments to direct newcomers like us. Perhaps he just didn't show us that. For a senior filmmaker like him to just pat on our shoulders and ask us not to worry even if we didn't do something well was quite large hearted on his part. Otherwise who does that with newcomers?"

There he goes again with all the praise. Guess it is tough for these youngsters to actually follow the mandate. Karan, are you listening?
