RGV: No film can fail just because of technique

Ram Gopal Varma has promised a thrilling narrative for his horror flick BHOOT RETURNS, especially with 3D technology coming into play and the camera playing its tricks again. This makes one remember the camera technique which he had adopted in DEPARTMENT, something that got flak from many quarters. One wonders whether audiences get a taste of that all over again in BHOOT RETURNS or is there something different in the offering? Also, is the film's narrative unique when compared to some of his other horror affairs?

"First and foremost let me state on record straight that eventually no film can fail just because of technique. In fact there is no case like that in the history of Indian cinema where a film hasn't worked due to just this very reason," reasons Ramu.

He adds after a pause, "Just because I spoke about a new technique for DEPARTMENT did everyone seem to have an opinion on that. Otherwise hardly anyone would have noticed. Also, using jerky camera angles, which I did push in DEPARTMENT, isn't uncommon either. Well, because I made noise about all of that, there were things being spoken and written about," he says.

While the written word wasn't too flattering then, here is hoping that with 3D there are good audience friendly results that Ramu has ensured with BHOOT RETURNS which releases all over this Friday.
