1920: EVIL RETURNS not made in 3D, confirms Bhushan Patel

Vikram Bhatt's last three directorial outings, whether it is RAAZ 3, DANGEROUS ISHHQ or HAUNTED, has been actually shot in 3D. Hence it was felt that 1920 - EVIL RETURNS, which is another horror film to come out of his stable, would be presented in 3D as well. However Bhushan Patel, director of the film, declares that there never were any such plans. Moreover, no one even thought for once that the film should be converted from 2D to 3D, something that quite a few Bollywood directors have planned in the past.

'Originally though, Bhushan had thought that it would be a good idea to shoot his Aftab Shivdasani-Tia Bajpai film in 3D. He was the DOP of HAUNTED and was well versed with the technology. However the trouble was that all technicians required for the film were already busy shooting for DANGEROUS ISHHQ and immediately after that, RAAZ 3. There was no equipment available either since currently Vikram is the only director in India who is actually shooting in Real 3D', informs a source connected to the film.

Waiting for the technicians as well as equipment would have resulted in at least six months delay in the film's shoot and it was a common consensus to go ahead and make the film in 2D itself.

"Yes, I would have loved to shoot the film in 3D but then for that I would had to wait for RAAZ 3 to finish," says Bhushan, the first time director, "Moreover, even aesthetically, converting from 2D to 3D was not an option either because most of us would agree that it is a sham. I feel that it is cheating when you convert your film."

Another reason to drop the idea was added time that would have gone into the conversion process.

"Not just are the results far from satisfactory, even sheer conversion is a very long process. I would rather shoot than convert. May be in films to come, I would get that opportunity but as of now, 1920 - EVIL RETURNS stays on in 2D," he confirmed.

With music by Chirantan Bhatt, the film releases all over coming Friday.
