HEROINE: An acid test for Kareena Kapoor's stardom!

Though she has been around for quite a while now, and is the leading lady of the highest number of 100 crore grossers (4, now same as Asin); for actress Kareena Kapoor that one solo hit (with lesser known stars) has been eluding her.

In fact all her 100 crore plus ventures have featured top names like Salman Khan (BODYGUARD), Aamir Khan (3 IDIOTS), Shahrukh Khan (RA.ONE) and Ajay Devgn (GOLMAAL 3).

It is true that she does have a MUJHE KUCCH KEHNA HAI with Tusshar Kapoor, but that was way back in 2001. On the other hand her competitors like Priyanka Chopra (FASHION), Vidya Balan (KAHAANI and THE DIRTY PICTURE) and Katrina Kaif (MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN) do have films where they have received commercial and critical success without the presence of top male stars. And to make matters worse most of her recent films (sans topmost stars) like QURBAAN, WE ARE FAMILY, EK MAIN AUR EKK TU and AGENT VINOD have failed to set the cash registers ringing.

It is therefore of utmost important that Kareena's Madhur Bhandarkar directed, HEROINE, scores a hit and garners commercial and critical acclaim for her.

However, with the promos of HEROINE making a mark and 'Halkat Jawaani' already climbing the charts it looks as if HEROINE is the film which is likely to shut up her detractors.
