HEROINE is dull to decent, BARFI a hit, RAAZ 3 blockbuster!

This Friday's major release, the Madhur Bhandarkar directed Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda starrer, HEROINE, opened to a dull to decent response. The start of the film varied from 40-55 percent on an average, while some high end multiplexes and good single screens of big cities reported a higher 60 percent.

Given the high screen count the 21-22 crore (budget) HEROINE is likely to put up a decent first weekend total, but unfortunately the mixed response and the still quite strong BARFI! will mar its chances of consolidation.

Meanwhile, last Friday's Anurag Basu directed BARFI! saw a rock steady week netting an excellent 57 crore (to be validated). With the overseas too returning impressive figures, the Ranbir-Priyanka starrer is already a clear hit.

Concluding with Vikram Bhatt's Bipasha-Emraan starrer RAAZ 3, the film took an expected hit from BARFI! in the second week and the collections fell badly, but still RAAZ netted 14.75 crore taking its two week tally to 70 crore (to be validated).

Adding the non-theatrical rights and the handsome returns from India, RAAZ 3 is Emraan Hashmi's first solo blockbuster.
