Freida Pinto to host pre-Oscar party

Freida Pinto, India's most successful international actress is all set to don yet another hat - one where she plays host to Hollywood most celebrated names. As a run up to the Oscars, a reputed magazine and Freida will co-host a special bash as part of the 14th installment of ''Campaign Hollywood'', an annual, week-long celebration leading up to the Academy Awards.

With this kind of an association, Freida becomes the first actress of Indian origin to have ever hosted the pre-Oscar party. Called - DJ Night with Freida Pinto, the evening that kick starts on Feb 19 evening (20th Feb India time) will feature a special performance by DJ AcE. The event is an endeavor to highlight the issue of the girl child and the importance of their education. Freida along with the magazine will help direct the funds raised to the campaign for the education of girls around the world through film and social media advocacy which also celebrates the film GIRL RISING.

When contacted, Freida Pinto's spokesperson confirmed the news and stated, ''When Freida was approached to co-host the pre-Oscar party she was more than happy to align and bring more attention to the initiatives. She has always felt committed to this cause and wouldn't miss out on this opportunity.''

In addition, she recently introduced the trailer of film GIRL RISING at the Sundance Film Festival 2013. The movie showcases the stories of nine girls born into unforgiving circumstances. The story is narrated by other noteworthy names like Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Liam Neeson and Kerry Washington amongst others. She is also the global ambassador for Plan International's ''Because I Am a Girl'' campaign focused on the cause of the girl child.
