'That's because Rohan is so young at heart,' says Ayushmann, 'He comes with a certain lineage which reflects in the kind of work that he does. Moreover, his inherent personality has a bearing on the way he likes to tell stories. He is a chilled out guy. He understands cinema in and out. All of this really led to a good bonding between us.' What further helped Ayushmann get going with the film was the fact that he could relate to the theatre setting of the film.
CHECK OUT: Will NAUTANKI SAALA! break Ayushmann's VICKY DONOR image? 'Rohan has done some theatre and so have I,' he says, 'As an actor you give a certain part of yourself in every part that you play on-screen. This happened to me during VICKY DONOR as well as I could relate to the character and hence brought in lot of nuances to the way I enacted it. Same is the case with NAUTANKI SAALA since I am playing a theatre actor and director in the film.' Just like his last film, one can expect Ayushmann to be craving for some critical success to come in as well along with the commercial success. Says Ayushmann, 'I never think like that actually. Even during VICKY DONOR, I wasn't thinking of critical acclaim and all. We all felt that the film would do decent but when it turned out to be so huge, it was a pleasant surprise for all. I am happy to keep my expectations under check and same is the case with NAUTANKI SAALA as well.'
