SINGHAM RETURNS has released and turned out to be a bumper success within its opening weekend itself. With lifetime collections of SINGHAM (100 crore) all set to be surpassed by tomorrow, if not today, the film is on a dream run with stakes going higher up to 150 crore now.
For a film that was started and finished inside five months, it is an achievement no less, considering its A grade setup, cast involving Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor, extensive outdoor shoots, elaborate action sequences and above all, massive expectations that were surrounding it right from the time it was announced.
Says Ajay, ''I was following some predictions during last few days and was gaining good ground reality from exhibitors. We were nearly expecting the kind of collections that have eventually come in. 28-30 crore opening day was always looking reasonable. However, on my further interaction with the audience, especially after the film opened, I could see the kind of garmi that the film was generating.''

While for Rohit Shetty the film is all set to be his second highest grosser ever after CHENNAI EXPRESS (215 crore), for Ajay this would comfortably surpass his highest grosser of all times, GOLMAAL 3 (106 crore). Still, from ROI perspective, especially when it comes to time spent in the making of a film, SINGHAM RETURNS is perhaps the biggest ever since the likes of DHOOM 3, CHENNAI EXPRESS and KICK have taken much longer time to be made before setting out for a 200 crore mark.
''Well yes, it is a win-win situation for SINGHAM RETURNS since it is not a costly picture on paper either,'' says Ajay, who is obviously basking in the glory of film's super-success, ''Not just we shot it in quick time, we have kept the selling price very less too for a film of this scale and franchise. Everyone is set to gain very big with the film.''
Now isn't that good news for the industry as a whole?
