Among your friends, only Ashish Chaudhary and Sophie Choudry were missing from JAI HO? I am really surprised because all others found a part or a half to play, most albeit reluctantly, I guess.
Tulip Joshi for example was unsure what her role was. She appeared in around three odd scenes, one with a child being returned to here where this whole 'Thank You' business started. You should have at least watched DHOKHA, before casting Tulip here. She deserved much better.
Nauheed Cyrusi was as exasperated. She is such a fine actor but was sidelined doing a sidey role. If you have watched LIFE MEIN KABHIE KABHIEE you would know what I mean. Two talented actresses wasted, just like that...
The others who were used I guess are from your FIGHT CLUB - MEMBERS ONLY production.
The point I am trying to make here is this: You have Salman bhai, your own brother and Bollywood's biggest grosser, starring in your production. What more could you ask for? That in itself is a Rs 100 crore return guaranteed.
All you had to do was concentrate on content, screenplay and direction. You left Bhai down brother. I know he will not say a word. But you know what I mean.
Your scenes were amateurish. I did mention in my review that they oscillated from average to poor. Some scenes did not even make sense. Like for instance the scene where Bhai sees a beggar with a child outside a medical store. It came just like that, out of the blue.
Just because you had to force that 'Thank You' angle does not mean that you insert any scene, anywhere. There has to be a build up to a situation before you can lead the audience to it. That is what was missing.
Movie-making is a serious business and even if you want to give your friends a role, that action should merit it for it to do justice to the film. Friendship is one thing, mixing it with business is another; at times it can get messy.
Focus; get tighter scripts and even tighter screenplay.
Look at what Arbaaz Khan did with DABANGG 2 as a director. He had a lot to match up to after the super success of DABANGG. He delivered in style, just like Salman Bhai!
Look at character actors for the character they have to portray on screen.
And yes, give your friends their due: Tulip and Nauheed deserved much better.
Ab 'Thank You' mat bol... go and give three deserving actors a break!
God Bless You
