More than a medium of entertainment, music today has become a necessity for the living. From curing depression to celebrating life, music can do it all. And to celebrate this nature of music, the entire World comes together and celebrates what we now know as World Music Day!
Celebrated on June 21, every year World Music Day is a worldwide phenomenon as countries across the world rejoice the day in their own way. The day is also known as Fete de la Musique, a music festival that began in France in 1982. On this day, musicians perform for free in parks, museums, train stations, castles and gives an opportunity to commune and share a special bond through music.
To commemorate this occasion, Glamsham.com exclusively spoke to the reigning singers from B-town on how they are celebrating World Music Day, what contribution they want to make in the music arena and how different is Indian music from the world. Read on to know more.
Celebration of World Music day
We have a special song for World Music Day, an initiative by 9XM, where various singers have collaborated. The song has been composed by Rohchak Kohli (Paani Da Rang fame). It's a single fun song, rendered by different singers in their respective style. It's not a mash-up. It's about spreading happiness because music has that power.
Further, I will be jamming with my brother and will try singing some amazing songs. For me every day is a Music Day.
We (my brother and I) are already contributing by performing for heart patients and raising funds for them.
All-time favourite singer
My all-time favourite is Lata Mangeshkar
Indian music different from World's music
