The first half of year 2014 did not see many big grossers. There were just three 100 crore plus ventures. Salman Khan's JAI HO, the Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer 2 STATES and Akshay Kumar's HOLIDAY-A SOLDIER IS NEVER OFF DUTY.
Those who have been a keen follower of our box-office reports and updates will surely be aware that from the three above mentioned films, the highest total of the year belonged to Salman Khan’s JAI HO (109 crore) and it was generally believed that it would continue to occupy the top slot of the first half of the year.
However, Vipul Shah's A.R Murugadoss directed, Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer, HOLIDAY, has surprised with a very stable run. The performance is all the more praiseworthy given the not so great opening day. Coming back to number crunching, HOLIDAY is all set to overtake JAI HO by the end of the third week.
To end on a pleasant note, given that Akshay and Salman are buddies in real life, we are sure that Sallu Bhai will not mind that, more so because his Eid release, Sajid Nadiadwala's KICK looks certain to be a 150 crore plus venture. And we are sure that even Akshay will not mind his friend taking the top honours from him once again.
