EROS International and Multi Screen Media come up with Hindi film industry's first revenge comedy, BAJATEY RAHO. Not only is the genre new, but is also mighty interesting. The star cast comprises of the likes of Tusshar Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Ravi Kissen and Vishakha Singh. The music is helmed by Jaidev Kumar, who is a very famous name in the Punjabi music industry and lyrics are penned by Kumaar. So let's see what Jaidev-Kumaar offer in this album.
The item number that has been grabbing eyeballs for quite a lot of reasons is 'Nagin Dance' featuring the hot sensation Maryam Zakaria. Naturally the century old 'nagin' dance tune that was well incorporated in Saif Ali Khan's LOVE AAJ KAL, finds an interesting makeover once again, but it's Kumaar's zany and wacky lyrics that take the cake and makes this item number worth a hear. Anmol Malik surprises with her flawless rendition.
The 'Nagin Dance Remix' by Domestik Dew is well done and makes for a good club or dance number with added beats and rhythm. CHECK OUT: Amidst competition, BAJATEY RAHO all set to do another CHALO DILLI?
Once again after 'Ambarsariya' (FUKREY), Sona Mahapatra is back as Vishakha Singh's voice in 'Khurafati Aankhiyan' (mischievous eyes), which is an interesting take on traditional Indian 'qawwali' with lots of Hindustani musical instruments like harmonium, tabla etc and its fusion with western beats is indeed funny and quite novel as well.
'O Meri Mata' is based on the same tune as Eros's 'Tu Mera Hero' (DESI BOYZ) and it has been well handled to make it into an interesting 'Jagrata'. Lyrics are indeed very humorous, and for those residing in the Hindi belt, it is not new to hear devotional numbers based on hit film songs.
'Kudi Tu Butter'' features top rap artist Yo Yo Honey Singh and is well rendered by Gajendra Verma and Vikram Singh and is another hilariously funny but rhythmic number in true Punjabi pop style, with lots of synthesized and techno beats. The lyrics are inspired from 'Neeche paan ki dukaan, Upar gori ka makaan'.
'Kudi Tu Butter' (Reprise) sung by Gajendra Verma and Vikram Singh and is almost the same with focus on vocals instead of background techno music of the original.CHECK OUT: Has the film fraternity gone bonkers?
The title track, 'Bajatey Raho' by RDB is the theme song and is a situational number that will be used as a background score during end roll credits. The hip hop and rap used is quite unique and lyrics fit in with the situation. The impressive promotional video featuring RDB is doing the rounds of channels.
On the whole, the Jaidev-Kumaar team has done a reasonably good job and the album does fit in with the zany genre (revenge comedy) of the film. 'Nagin Dance' and 'Khurafati Ankhiyan' are the pick of the lot and should ensure a decent enough opening for BAJATEY RAHO when it releases all over this Friday.
