Even though expectations are not humongous from the audio of Reliance and Born Free Entertainment's BOBBY JASOOS, but one does look forward to the album as it brings back the award winning composer-lyricist duo of Shantanu Moitra and Swanand Kirkere (of 3 IDIOTS fame), after a sabbatical. So let's check out the album which promises some fun, situational and dramatically poised compositions, where Shantanu and Swanand excel.
The nail is hit right on the head with the fun, celebration number, 'Jashn
', a song that celebrates life and is rendered well by the 'surili
' Shreya with Bonnie Chakraborty joining in later. Swanand's lyrics are the icing on the cake, apt and simple. Shantanu fuses south Indian, north and western instruments well and the result is a well-crafted number.
The romantic ditty, 'Tu
' starts off well with Shreya rendering it almost whisper like but the use of beaten to death, ancient slow drawl 'mushaira
' tune is a let- down. 'Paas Ho Tum Magar
' (LOOTMAR) inspiration looms large. Papon sings well. Simple Urdu lyrics save the track. CHECK OUT - Bobby Jasoos Movie Dialogues
The reprise version of 'Tu
' makes for a pleasant hear as Papon sings Shreya parts and vice-versa. A good departure from the usual reprise versions that we are used to hearing
The title track, 'B.O.B.B.
' is another fun number that provides insight into the movie and the lead protagonist, Bobby, who is a female detective and wants to make a mark in a man's world. Can be classified as the theme song too. Shantanu uses jazz and rock and roll to convey the fun and humorous side of things well. Neeraj Shridhar is class apart, almost sings like Kishore da in parts and so is the very funny chorus.
South and north fuse in 'Sweety
', a light hearted fun chhed-chaad number. Aishwarya Nigam and Monali render the song well. It's Swanand's lyrics that make the song decent, sweet and cute, though once again the choice of tune (which is heard before) surprises. CHECK OUT - Bobby Jasoos : Songs Lyrics
Summing up, one expected something above the ordinary from the team of Shantanu and Swanand (A Rajkumar Hirani regular), but the album of BOBBY JASOOS fails to engage or entertain in a big way. The title track and 'Jashn
' are the best of the lot. The not so great music will surely hamper BOBBY JASOOS's task when it releases all over on 4th July, 2014. Music Review Rating Chart :-
