Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and Rohit Shetty Productions' DILWALE, carries expectations beyond imagination, and one does hope for an enjoyable, entertaining, full paisa vasool (just like Rohit Shetty's films) music from the audio, quite on the lines of their last blockbuster hit, CHENNAI EXPRESS.
The all out romantic number, 'Gerua
' (picturised on the all-time romantic SRK-Kajol jodi), certainly captures hearts with its super addictive tune, brilliant arrangements, unique yet meaningful lyrics (Gerua meaning saffron which depicts bhakti-devotion), superb rendition by the prince of romantic numbers Arijit Singh along with Antara Mitra. Leaving no stone unturned to make 'Gerua' the most memorable love ballad of recent times is the breathtaking locales of Iceland and beautiful choreography by the invincible Farah Khan.
The number that is sure (and is already!) to strike a mammoth chord with the GenX is the newest super star, Varun Dhawan, featuring 'Manma Emotion Jaage Re
'. The rhythm is very catchy, lyrics identifiable and appreciable by the youth and kids as well and the song is well rendered with 'emotions' by Amit Mishra, Anushka Manchanda and Antara Mitra.
Arijit Singh's magical rendition (with Antara Mitra giving good support), and a goose pimple raising haunting tune, coupled with grand orchestration (Laxmi -Pyare style, recreated by V-S in OM SHANTI OM) makes 'Janam Janam
' easily the best composition of the album, which simply casts a spell on the listeners. The crescendo is amazing.
Goa's pristine beaches and palm trees come alive via the full on masti propositioning peppy number, 'Tukur Tukur
' sung with zest by Arijit Singh. In the context of the movie, the song fits in like a hand in glove (it's a Rohit Shetty film!), otherwise it's a routine fun frolic number.
' (meaning boundries) is another haunting pensive, separation song that sounds much better due to Arijit's emotive rendition. Pritam's arrangements and lyrics (very simple but effective) are also the highlight of this number.
The heavy beats and disco rhythm that was missing throughout the album, and is sure to be lapped up by the youth is 'Premika
', which is sung well by Benny Dayal and Kanika Kapoor . The 'chhed-chaad
' number also contains the in-vogue rap and back up RD Burman retro style chorals. However in the context of the album (thus far!), somewhat of a let down.
Ending the album on a high note is the DJ Chetas Mix of the 'Dilwale
' (Theme) which is predominantly a flute instrumental (and must add an exhilarating one!) consisting of a pot -puree of all the songs, with Arijit Singh's back -up vocals adding to the mystique and grandeur.
To summarize, although Rohit Shetty ventures do not boast of chartbusting and infectious romantic ballads (he doesn't require it!), this time around it does! DILWALE is arguably the best audio score for a Rohit Shetty project. Our picks, 'Gerua', 'Manma Emotion Jaage Re'
and the best 'Janam Janam
'. DILWALE might not carry the class of BAJIRAO MASTANI but it is surely universally appealing, and the three mentioned tracks have struck a chord (with 'Gerua' already a rage in the overseas!) with the audience. The audio is sure to boost the already bright commercial prospects of DILWALE, when it releases globally on 18th December.Music Review Rating Chart :-
